Day 46 Hurry Up & Heal

Day 46

First there was a tumor
Then there was a cyst
Surgeon took those out
With a quick flick of his wrist
After that he went back in
Had some hardware to install
Put a plastic pipe inside my head
Kinda does make one's skin crawl
But that's ok; I figured all would be well
Until of course, the skin didn't but began to swell
So it took a little longer to get a needle to it
Plus there was muscle and needles had to go through it
But in the end it all worked out and we delivered the deadly dose
Radioactive isotopes - now we just had to watch it close
Was home on Christmas Eve But couldn't stay for long
Crazy unexpected pain said something had gone wrong
So it was back to the ER and another hospital bed
If you've been you know It can drive u outta your head
Chained down to an I.V. all day and all night
Poking and prodding with no end in sight
Infection was suspected so antibiotics began to flow
until we found out what we needed to know
There was no infection -- upon further inspection
pain was just a reaction
To the intense injection
Meant for my protection
Just a little insurrection
From my body's rhythm section
No time for introspection
Too late for redirection
Still glad for the detection
Now my very best projection is
In the absence of perfection
I will find a new direction
While I still have no conception
I'll hold on to my affections
And give thanks for this connection:
A most bizarre intersection:
of words and life and love and friends and hope and health and time
and pain and mystery and science and things unknowable and things
believed and hearts treasured and lives healed.

it just takes time.
