david,
got in at 1 am from our "road trip" to see you in Newton, Iowa, last night. The music was beautiful and as Ursula said below, God is using you and your voice as an instrument of hope, joy and faith. Also, like Ursula, I couldn't wait to share news of your recent MRI report with my support group friends and our Walk for the Mind Committee. We are all so thankful for that good news. No matter how many times I see you and hear you, I continue to be moved by your message.

David,
Dr. Gibbs was a guest speaker for our company (Leica) over this past weekend and was amazing! I have a slow growing tumor in the right temporal lobe, so it is quite the job to be selling and teaching neurosurgeons how to use these scopes to remove tumors. I was moved by your song "If I had another day", and Dr. Gibbs thought it would be good for us to contact each other. I will pray for you and hope for only the best, and in his hands that are guided by God, you are in the best of care! Thank you for the inspiration and please feel free to contact me anytime!

Thank you and God bless!

Good morning, David,
It's so obvious to me that God is using you as an instrument of hope, of joy, of faith. Even the recent setback might have been a message that yes, there are setbacks, especially with our brain tumor journey, but that doesn't mean it's a slippery slope downward. I'm so happy about your latest MRI. I right away posted it on the brain tumor list, because good news feeds hope for all of us. Much love to you, dear David, and may your songs inspire us for a very long time,
Ursula
Mother of Jennifer, 6 year GBM survivor also hoping for good news from yesterday's MRI.

Hi David,
My husband and I have been to every concert in the Sharon-New Castle, PA area for the last 12 years. Your first concert there after your surgery was a turning point for us since my husband had surgery for kidney cancer the year before. I just wanted to Thank you for your dedication to helping others in their tuff times. I worked with Pam Maloney for the past 6 years and she has also been a great support during hard times. We have now moved to IN and I will miss your concerts unless you head this direction in the future. May God continue to bless your music and your life!

Beth McCarrick

April 24, 2009

David, I hope and pray that you continue to heal. My husband and I had our first date at a concert at Grove City College. You and Bill Deasy were the first step to a (so far) 19 year marriage with three teenage daughters. I've been keeping up with Ella Newmiller's progress through our church prayer line, and saw your name! Thank you for supporting her and all children with brain cancers. Our thoughts and prayers are continually with you. Beth (Sinclair) and Phil McCarrick

Ashley from Alaska

April 23, 2009

About 8 years ago David visited Alaska and played a concert for my family. At that time my Aunt Lori was battling a brain tumor. My aunt has now passed, but her presence is felt in my life every day. I bought a couple of David's CD's and they are still an inspiration to my life.

I know David has a busy tour schedule, so we all GREATLY appreciated his effort to come to Alaska.

His songs encourage me to see the bright side of each day. Also, I find myself connecting with God when singing to his music. Our great Lord has given David a real talent, and gentle spirit.

Thank-you for your dedication to people and most of all to our Lord David.
You are truly an inspiration.

I thank the Lord for you,

David,
My husband was diagnosed last March with a GBM and in October when things were not going well I searched the internet and found your site. From there we contacted Duke BTC and he has done treatments with Henry and his staff over the past 6 months. However once again the beast continues to grow and he has decided that his fight is over and he is going to have some quality of life.
Your site gave us so much hope and inspiration that I cannot even begin to explain or thank you enough. I hope others are lucky enough to find your site and that you are able to keep up this work for many many years to come.

Hi David,
I wanted to write you to say hi, that I am praying for you and to give you some words of hope. I pray for comfort during the chemo and that you will be in deep thought of praying your body through the chemo and to get rid of the cancer in your brain and put you in remission for as long as God will's you.

I know you get so many emails from people yet when I listen to you I get hope for myself. I myself had Breast Cancer on June 27, 1996 at 34 and I also became a Diabetic on June 27, 1978. I have been blessed with a wonderful God fearing husband and son (Paul who is 18 now). I am blessed with my life. I thank and praise God everyday that I open my eyes. I try to do God's will and am trying to give my passion as I work with children as a Preschool Teacher.

I will look forward to your emails and will keep you and your family in my prayers. Rest your body yet you can keep you mind going. Live each day for God.

As you said in your interview; To Love the Time and Share the Hope!

Love your Sister in Christ,
Deborah xxx

I saw David in concert at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church on March 29, 2009.
I can't explain how much this experience meant to me - his music has played nonstop in my house, car and iPod ever since. I came home from the concert and told my husband, "I saw God today..."
I am so grateful to David for reminding me how important it is to "love the time."

David,
I was sitting here listening to your interview while I also had a panic attack about losing a file for graduate school. Thanks for reminding me that all is never lost. You've been an inspiration since the beginning of this mid-life journey into teaching . . . "don't let the cynics tell you they know better. Better yet, don't let them talk to you at all." "it's not about finishing the dream, it's about starting..." Thanks. Anyway, I'm back to my paper. God bless and take care...We're looking forward to seeing you in Birmingham in November.

Mr. Bailey,
I am coming to hear you speak on Tuesday the 24th in Charlottesville. My sister was diagnosed Jan.08 with a rare form of a GBM. She lives in Atlanta and was too be operated on immediately and then a friend said she needs to go to Duke. That was on a Friday and we was seen Monday and operated on Friday. The tumor is gone, she underwent the temodar, avastin and cp11 drugs which sounds like you are now in the midst of. It was a long rough year. But her body tolerated the "poisons" well and she is slowly getting her life back on track. I am so looking forward to hearing you and know you will come through this. THe Duke Team is unbelievable. One thing my family says everyday about Duke, they were realistic with my sister and us but they never took our hope away, they gave it to us. Hold Strong and see you Tuesday.

I found your web site by accident while researching brain tumor information. My ex husband was diagnosed with stage 4 brain tumor and has undergone surgery radiation and chemo. We have three amazing children together and I struggle with ways to help my children keep their hope and faith alive. They are so scared and worried for their dad. Thank you for sharing your faith and hope with us. It is such a gift, most especially when all you hear and think are the scary and negative. We will keep you in our prayers. We will send your cd's to the children's father Mark and pray that he hears not just the beautiful music but the message as well. You inspire so much thank you and may God continue to bless you.

I am so excited to know you are coming to our little community of Mayfield , New York, through contact with our wonderful pastor Bonnie Orth. I've read your bio and listened to your music...it's wonderful. What a strong and good man you must be. I sure will be praying for you , David, and looking forward to your visit and music in March. Our choir is just so ecstatic to know you would come to visit 'little ol' us'.
My brother, now 82 yrs old had a benign brain tumor 10 years ago. It robbed him of his memory for the most part because it occupied such a large area in the brain and the brain itself did not resume its' size after surgery. So I know just a little bit about brain tumors but in reading your bio and treatments I was amazed what you have gone through.

God bless you ,

I just read your story and your battle with Cancer. I am 43 years old and I was just diagnosed with a Grade 2 Glioma. I know that this is in no way as serious as your prognosis but it is still very scary to me. I have seizures often and my memory is very bad. I also have trouble following a conversation. My wife and I have no income now and I am not sure what I am going to do. I was laid off from work in May of 2008 and now I can't work at all. I live in WV and I have to travel to Winston Salem NC for my cancer treatments. Your story has renewed my hope and wish you all the best. I know if God can move so profoundly in you life he can help me too. I will keep you in my prayers....

David:

I was just introduced to your music and passion by our Executive Presbyter when she sent out the Deep Well CD to the clergy in MN Valleys Presbytery. I am serving in the US Air Force and am currently stationed in Florida.

Saw on your site that you are undergoing more treatment and rounds... I do sincerely hope and pray that all goes well with your treatment. Thank you for your ministry and message!

God sent you to me about 7 years ago in a brain tumor support chat. My daugther was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor. You told me about Duke... and never give up... that infamous word "HOPE". Never did... and Ashley is doing great... now a mom of two little boys. Who says God doesn't work miracles! I'm praying for you David and your family. God bless you.

Hi David! I am a 15-yr-old junior in high school. I have been battling my brain tumor for almost 2 years. I have had 5 craniotomies and a bilateral hip surgery as a result of my tumor. But if you can call it lucky, I'm lucky because the type of tumor that I had is benign.
I just had my last radiation treatment yesterday 12/30/2008. I had a Gamma Knife radiosurgery yesterday on Tuesday, December 30th.
