comedy by Stephen McCutchan
and music by David Bailey and Bryan McFarland

Seventy minutes of humorous sketches and encouraging musical reflections on the challenges of ministry

This CD is dedicated to the memory of David M. Bailey, courageous troubadour of hope and faith who battled a malignant brain tumor for 14 years and finally came to rest on October 2, 2010. In life, david signed his name in lower case. We are now capitalizing David’s name in honor of a life well lived. From the time he was diagnosed in 1996, he ceaselessly wrote, sang, and spoke his faith in 23 albums, in 45 states and 5 countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Denmark & Sweden. He always did it with a sense of humor. The CD is also in honor of David’s family, Leslie, Kelcey, and Cameron who supported David in his journey.
David and Steve met at a Presbytery Pastoral Care Network (PPCN) conference and produced their first joint CD, A Deep Well for the Pastor, as a resource in PPCN’s work of caring for clergy. More information is available at www.pastoralcarenetwork.org.

David and Steve had talked about an album of humor as a second project. Bryan McFarland, independent folk-musician and hunger action advocate for Salem Presbytery, has joined Steve to complete this project using both his and David’s songs to enlarge the experience. Bryan released a new album, Until All Are Fed, with a portion of proceeds going to the Presbyterian Hunger Program. Details at www.untilallarefed.net

“Ministry takes many forms. Some, like David and Bryan spread good news through music. Being able to sing is definitely not one of my gifts, but I have found the ability to laugh and at times help others to laugh. I have been able to serve churches for over forty years. Whatever the form of ministry, those who serve with passion experience a lot of pain – sometimes personally and often by receiving the pain of others. Laughter and music have been two of the gifts that help sustain people as they share in the pain of life. David, Bryan, and I all share a concern for the life of those who serve in ministry. We liked the idea of reaching out to them through music and laughter. Draw deeply from this well and know that you are part of something greater than yourself.” ~Stephen McCutchan

Also by Stephen & David, "A Deep Well for the Pastor"
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dmbailey9

More from Stephen:

* Water From the Rock, Lectionary Devotional for Cycle C
* Streams of Living Water, Lectionary Devotional for Cycle B
* Water From the Well, Lectionary Devotional for Cycle A
* Experiencing the Psalms

Go to www.smccutchan.com

The pictures you painted with the music are beautiful. I'm ordering more to give to musician friends and music-loving friends." JoAnn

"It was an exciting day, when "Notes" filled my home, my car, my work. An awesome CD, that blends into any situtuation. At a get together with friends, it lends just the right atmosphere for chatting. At work, it sooths the savage beasts. (My secret) In the car, it allows me time to unwind, and think... Leaving the days work AT work, where it belongs!! Thanks David, I'm glad you took the time, and listened to your fans. Does this answer the question, "Which comes first, the words or the notes?" Just wondering." Bev

"Some how I found David Bailey on MySpace. I listened to his profile song. A link I followed took me to CD Baby. This was my first time purchasing from CD Baby. This CD brings the mountains and nature right to your home. What a sense of calm and peace I feel listening to his music. It's an experience! I shared it with my brother who is also a musician. He absolutely loves it. He took it home. I guess I'll have to purchase another. I would love to hear David in Concert. DON'T Hesitate for a second to purchase this gem!" Allecia

"I have been looking for some good instrumental music and when I sampled the first couple of tracks I was hooked. I have been playing it at work every day since I got it!" Matt

"Love it! A relaxing, comforting, easy listening CD. I love listening to the CD when I get home from work, just to relax and reflect as the day comes to an end." Lucille

Sometimes, the title of a new CD is the last thing decided. Sometimes it comes ini the middle of a project - and sometimes it's decided first and helps to shape the content and irection of an album. such is the case with thi one - after recording hundreds of songs on 22 cd's I was sorried that a new collection would sound like everthing else and determined go above and beyond what I've done before - and so the title was born. recording began last summer at a friend's studio in Columbus, Ohio; the very same one where i first discovered I had a recurrance in nov 2008, then continued in a basement home studio outside Cleveland, OH, then wrapped up at my primary haven, Sacred Ground Studio in Fredericksburg VA with my primary producer, Donny Holcombe. As we starte4d sorting through tracks, it soon became evident that there wre simply too many - I considered releasing a double disc but then as production started began to let the dust settle and the keepers were soon vident. That, plus I've had the last 9 months or so to experiment from stage and discover which songs seem to resonate best with audiences - you can always tell. which ones spark and which ones fizzle To that end, here is a short list of tracks that as of today, i'm sure will be on the final list. that list will change every day, but that's the fun part. Stay tuned!

This Could Be Your Day
2hours go by
3All I Want
4Against The Chance
5You Can Find It
6 LOVE IS
7Scared
8The question
9 PRECIOUS
10 DID YOU REALLY
11Voice
121Holy Healer
13The Good
15 DO IT
16Gentle
17Words Of Wisdom
Above & Beyond
